The CDJ200 introduces innovative features such as full-function MP3 playback, Hot Loop, Beat Loop and Pioneer’s unique one button Beat Cutter to the their multi award winning CD player range - ensuring that Pioneer remains the number one digital brand in DJ booths the world over.In recognition of the increasing popularity of MP3 as a download format for many aspiring DJs, the CDJ-200 is fully MP3-compatible.

This now means DJs can include the very latest tracks in their sets, without the need to spend time converting audio from other formats to MP3. And it’s convenient during playback too, since the unit has an MP3 folder search function and will scroll the name of the disc, artist and current track within its bright dot-matrix display window.

Right on-cue

This screen also has a bar graph showing the elapsed and remaining playing time of a track, and an Auto BPM Counter giving DJs real-time information they need to create better mixes more quickly. There’s a tempo read-out too, as well as a separate Master Tempo button with 3 settings for locking the pitch of a track as it’s sped up or slowed down.

The CDJ-200 has an impressive range of cue and loop features, including Loop & Adjust/Hot Loop and a new Beat Loop & Loop Cutter that can be used to create loops within loops until the beat has been cut to infinity. These functions give DJs all the options they need to push creative boundaries and deliver the best performances.

A guiding light

The unit also has another unique feature - an electric-blue light that’s used at strategic locations to give the DJ constant feedback on the status of the CD and the effects being used. The light above the CD-slot, for example, indicates when there’s no disc loaded and guides the DJ to the CDJ-200's user-friendly quick-load slot. With the disc inserted, the light goes off and a blue illuminated ring appears around the edge of the Jog Wheel - indicating that a CD is ready to be played.

An established highlight of Pioneer’s Pro DJ CDJ players, the Jog Wheel can be used to speed up or slow down the music, to fine-tune cue points manually, or to control the mix with the help of another proven feature – such as the Digital Jog Break. This has three effect buttons (Jet, Zip, Wah) for creating original sounds as the Jog Wheel is manipulated.

When the Digital Jog Break is on, the blue ring flashes quickly. Once the HOLD/RESET button is used, the flashing slows down and with the effects off, the continuous blue light returns.

Making it easy

There are many more user-friendly firsts built into the CDJ-200. For example, the Resume function means that if a CD is ejected accidentally, the DJ can quickly re-insert the disc and be sure it will start playing from exactly the point where it stopped.

The CDJ-200 also has a Digital Out socket, so that all of the digital features available in DJ Mode can be carried over to a connected digital environment, and a headphone jack (with volume control) This enables monitoring of a CD without the need to connect the CDJ-200 to a mixer or external amplifier.
